"Rita Green is a certified Massage Therapist and a member of the Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals as well as a Certified Yoga Instructor." Several years ago one of my yoga students asked me why I taught yoga. What was my personal perspective or intent in teaching. My answer then and now is that I feel my purpose is to reintroduce people to themselves, to assist in the rediscovery of who and what you are innately as well as to improve the quality of life. The same intention is present in my massage therapy. Most of us are fairly familiar with our physical selves; we either feel good or we don t for a variety of reasons. My approach in massage therapy is to assist you in giving yourself permission to be aware and to FEEL, to use massage not just as the occasional treat but as an integral part of optimum health and well being. We often go through life on automatic pilot not paying attention to, or ignoring how we feel and think; not patronizing and valuing ourselves enough to seek help for our health. I encourage my clients to take responsibility for themselves and their quality of life using whatever modalities are appropriate for them. However, I have discovered throughout my practice that often less is more; gentle stretches release effectively, subtle massage strokes relax deeper. Deep work can be helpful, but rather than working out a knot in a muscle I d prefer the client feel it, breathe into it, and we release it together. I see my responsibility as a facilitator in this process, perceiving not only tension and energy blockages within the body system but technically and intuitively helping to release and balance body, mind, and spirit through breath and bodywork. THE FOLLOWING SERVICES ARE AVAILABLE: MASSAGE Progressive manipulation of the soft tissues of the body resulting in relaxation, pain relief, improved circulation, and overall harmony within the body and mind. CHAIR MASSAGE An abbreviated upper body massage designed to relieve stress, tension, and improve alertness and productivity. REFLEXOLOGY A unique method of stimulating areas of the feet which correspond to parts of the body. It relieves tension, improves the blood supply, and promotes the unblocking of nerve impulses. LYMPHATIC MASSAGE A generalized method of activating the lymph system to help rid the body of toxins and waste materials. Lymph drainage promotes balance within the body and enhances the function of the immune system. HATHA YOGA A system of stretches, postures, breathing, and relaxing techniques that improve flexibility, strength, awareness, and balance in all the levels of being. |
